Hurricane Irene FEMA Assistance
Good morning residents of the Town of Marlboro,
I have just learned that Ulster County has received a Presidential Disaster Declaration for Hurricane Irene. We have been deemed eligible for both Individual Assistance and Public Assistance.
Public assistance will allow municipalities and certain non profits to rebuild roads and infrastructure and Individual assistance will allow residents and businesses to file for federal assistance.
Applications may be submitted beginning tomorrow, September 1 by calling 1-800-FEMA (3362), or filing on-line by logging onto
Hearing impaired individuals using TTY may call 1-800-462-7585, or via video relay at 1-800-621-3362. These phone lines are available from 7 AM to 10 PM seven days a week. We also anticipate that a Disaster Assistance Center MAY open in the County.
Please pass this information along to anyone you know who may have experienced a loss as a result of Hurricane Irene. We are not certain at this point what FEMA will cover, nor do we know what the time frame for this aid will be but encourage everyone who has a loss to file and application. The Town of Marlborough will continue to work very closely with the County and its engineers to return services as quickly as possible. As more information becomes available, we will make every effort to get it out to the public. We are also in the process of posting this information on the Towns website.
I want to take this opportunity to thank the volunteers of the Milton & Marlboro Fire Districts, the employees of the Town of Marlboro Police Department, Highway Department & Water Department, and Council members who worked so tirelessly during the storm as well as the Town office employees who have been answering the phones and documenting the damage post storm.
Lastly, I want to thank County Exec Mike Hein for his leadership and for all he has done and continues to do for The Town of Marlboro and Ulster County. I also want to thank Art Snyder from Ulster County Emergency Management who has assisted the Town every step of the way. More Information will follow.
